Summer can be a particularly difficult time for many seniors. Holidays, fewer activities, and the temporary absence of family members and loved ones can increase feelings of isolation.
Thanks to the commitment of participants in the 2025 Brussels 20K Run, an awareness campaign was launched to highlight this often-overlooked reality. One of the initiatives involved sending letters and postcards to isolated older adults, offering a sense of connection, care, and a few comforting words.
Beyond the messages themselves, the initiative aims to remind everyone of the importance of staying connected with older adults during the summer months and to encourage simple acts of kindness that can help break the cycle of loneliness.
