Senior’s Daytime
In a nutshell
The Senior’s Daytime project, led by Atoll, provides daytime support and activities for older adults in order to reduce social isolation, promote well-being, and enable them to continue living at home.
The context
As the population ages, more and more older people are living at home while facing loneliness, vulnerability, or a loss of independence.
At the same time, moving into a nursing home is often perceived as a difficult step and is sometimes avoided, while alternative solutions remain insufficiently known or accessible.
The cost of services, the complexity of administrative procedures, and mobility challenges also represent significant barriers for many older adults.
The project
Atoll offers a daytime support service based on activities and psychosocial guidance, complementing existing home-care services.
The project includes:
- group activities that encourage social interaction;
- personalised support tailored to participants’ needs;
- opportunities for exchange, stimulation, and social engagement;
- coordination with local support services.
Unlike a care centre, the approach focuses on well-being, participation, and maintaining an active social life.
Impact
The project helps to:
- reduce social isolation among older adults;
- support their psychological and social well-being;
- promote independent living at home;
- provide indirect support to family caregivers.
By offering a welcoming and stimulating environment, the project enables older people to remain active and connected to their community.
