To combat social isolation among older people and strengthen local community ties, Bras dessus Bras dessous is developing a programme of group activities across its Brussels branches.
Throughout 2026, the association plans to organise ten accessible activities adapted to participants' abilities. Each branch will offer at least two activities per year, enabling older people to take part in creative workshops, cultural outings or other opportunities for social interaction and shared experiences.
These activities give older people the opportunity to break away from their daily routines, discover new experiences and spend time with other residents of their neighbourhood.
Beyond entertainment, they help strengthen participants' sense of belonging, encourage active participation and maintain regular social connections. Participants can thus develop new relationships while preserving their independence and their place in neighbourhood life.
With the support of the be.Source Foundation, this programme of ten group activities aims to reach 150 older people, promoting social inclusion and improving their quality of life on a daily basis.
