🎶 750 concert seats in nursing homes
An innovative project is a new way of acting to improve the daily lives of elderly people who are vulnerable or isolated. It involves rethinking existing solutions, experimenting with new approaches, and creating initiatives that are more humane, supportive, and sustainable.
Through collaboration between different stakeholders — citizens, associations, institutions, and volunteers — these projects aim to break isolation, strengthen social connections, and promote the well-being of older adults.
Thanks to part of the funds raised during the Concert des Cœurs 2024, the be.Source Foundation made it possible to organise a solidarity concert tour in three Brussels nursing homes – Résidence VIVA, Résidence Heydeken, and Résidence Mettewie – offering residents a special moment of music, connection, and emotion.
These concerts provided residents with much more than simple entertainment. They helped break daily routines, revive cherished memories, and create moments of togetherness shared by residents, their loved ones, and care staff.
The seniors were also deeply touched by the intergenerational encounter with the girls’ choir Mélopée. It was a wonderful demonstration of how music and culture can serve as powerful drivers of social connection, and how even a few moments of shared experience can have a lasting impact on the well-being of older adults.
